A man’s mind plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps and makes them sure

—Proverbs 16:9

Sometimes we make plans only for God to tell us no. He doesn’t actually tell us no, our plans just don’t work out so its a good guess that it’s a no. Unless it’s a yes but not now. Or it would have been yes if you did it differently. You might say ‘how was I to bloody know?’
Sometimes you will get a silence. Which means he doesn’t like being spoken to like that.
The scripture also says a mans ways and his plans. It doesn’t mention women. Well who knows what a woman’s plans are. They change all the time.
Occasionally a mans mind makes plans, but a woman directs his steps and makes him unsure.
So, should we plan or not. Ask God to direct you today in all that you do from that parking space you need at the shops to the extra money for your hair extensions or a new HD 70″ TV with surround sound. He cares. (Unless you live in the third world then you probably won’t have a car to park and you might need a smaller TV if you have any power that is. Food is a must though, and hair straighteners are probably higher on the list than extensions).

Today I will walk the walk and talk the talk with you, I will step out in faith and see if it is your will or not, in which case I’m happy to be made a fool of today also. Make me humble.

Be strong today

Strong people don’t put others down; they lift them up.
Unless it’s WWF. Although to be fair, they do lift them up first.
Or unless it’s a strong person who is very angry with someone, has decided to lift them up and throw them out the window (of the 10th floor), has second thoughts and decides to put them down (gently). Then, yes, be strong.
Unless it’s a fireman carrying someone down from a fire filled building and then puts them down (not verbally). He may not be strong though as technically he can be 65yrs old now I think with new laws on retirement coming in for Firefighters. Still, he could be a strong 65 year old, maybe. Compared to a flea. But again, aren’t fleas strong for their size. If they were human they could jump over St Pauls cathedral in London, not that you’d want to do that necessarily. You’d probably enter the Olympics and do high jump and long jump perhaps, or just jump the 100m in 1 second. The 400m would be tricky as you’d have to do numerous jumps and probably infringe the lane changing rules.
You could jump to London from anywhere in the world, save loads on airfare and then jump St Pauls. You’d probably need sat nav though and the ocean would be tricky. The money saved could be spent on Shopping.

God, today I will not be like a WWF fighter and lift people up only to slam them down, I don’t have the strength. Only you have that power and WWF fighters. Let me be a lifter upperer, not a slammer downerer

When panic strikes

By today you will probably have had something to panic about this month. Bills to pay, going back to work, forgetting you have to be at work today. Not knowing if you even work or not. Who are you! Panic can set in at any moment. In a darkened room at night by yourself, panic can grip you like a stranger breaking into your house at night with murderous intention. What was that noise? Why do I always have to check that strange sound in the middle of the night and have to go downstairs armed with a slipper and thoughts of Bruce Lee. Today or tonight you can choose the opposite of panic and choose peace. Take a deep breath, relax and feel the air flowing in and out of your lungs. If you are a bit tight chested, don’t let it unsettle you – it will pass, if you stop smoking. If you can’t stop, worry about it tomorrow. From your toes to your head, feel everybody part and it’s presence. If you can’t feel a body part you may start to panic, but still, refrain from worry as you are probably sitting awkwardly and have stopped the blood flow. Let the blood flow, but keep it inside your body, don’t literally let the blood flow – it’s a metaphor – or is it?

Relax. Stop breathing, start again and stop.
Start again. Keep breathing all day.

Today I will not panic. Despite all those debts, nagging feelings of inadequacy, a downtrodden existence and no future in store, I will relax and enjoy the moment. I will now press on with my busy day having wasted 10 minutes reading this and having gotten way behind – peace is within and without. Shalom

Joy through hard ships

James 1v2
‘Consider it pure joy my brothers when you endure hardship’
This verse from the bible written by James or Jim as he was often called, calls us to a life of joy.
I recall a time when I had to suffer a hardship. I was driving my new cabriolet fresh out of the showroom and round to Bobby’s house my best friend from way back. I pulled up outside his house and proudly displaying my new glorious car only to be met by a cold heartless stare. Bobby had just lost his job and his wife had recently left him after she had an affair. He was selling the house because he had no money. His father had died that week also. Despite these small setbacks I was devastated at the thoughtlessness of his actions and more the lack of enthusiasm for my new car and outward display of success. I soon realised that although I felt hurt, I needed the joy of The Lord and his spirit to lay aside Bobby’s attitude and lack of understanding and rest in that joy. Besides, I had a new car!
So, today as you go through hardships you may be facing, just remember to clothe yourself in joy. Shrug off apathy, others feelings and have some “me time” and bathe in that happy sense of God and the prosperity he brings.

A solid Foundation

Buildings that last have solid foundations. It’s the same with our lives. A solid foundation will secure for you a long and happy life. Today build on that foundation. Pray, meditate, help someone in need. Focus on concrete as a solid force. Focus on the stones and metal rods that reinforce that foundation. Watch out for dodgy builders though as they will hinder your foundation today and skimp on the materials. Also, don’t fall in the foundations while it’s still wet as you may get a concrete grave for your troubles. What does that mean?  Meaning in all things is for you to discover, so take time now to discover the meaning. It could be tip toeing in the concrete, play catch near the wet foundations or simply jumping in to test if it’s still wet.  God, today help me lay a solid foundation for my life, to ask about good builders and not rely on the Internet. Help me today to jump in with both feet into the glorious life you have for me, unless it is still wet of course; in which case I will wait a few days. Or whatever is recommended in the builders concrete guidelines.at last have solid foundations. It’s the same with our lives. A solid foundation will secure for you a long and happy life. Unacceptance

When you want more out of life, unacceptancy is the key. To accept second best is to accept failure, especially if its a two man race. Although you can claim that you came in the top 2 if its a competition and maybe forget to mention that there were only 2 competitors. If there are three competitors and you come third, dont mention that either, only that you came third. If there are three thousand entrants and you come three thousandth, then don’t even mention you entered at all, unless you’ve bragged to everyone about the event and there are lots of happy faces when you meet everyone with “How did you go?”, “How was the competition, did you do well? We’re so proud of you”. It may be best to unaccept the question and walk away, pretending you didn’t hear. If you win and are the only entrant, brag all you like. Don’t tell people you were the only one. Don’t accept you couldn’t have lost. It would however be difficult to be the only entrant in a tennis match for example, so you’d probably get a bye and not even have to play at all. In this rare situation, accept it. Read the previous post and do that one instead of this one (Acceptance).

Today I will unaccept the acceptable and accept the unacceptable. I will walk by faith as that is another key I must put on my key ring. I will mark the keys so I dont use acceptance when unacceptance is what I really want and end up bragging about coming last out of 3000 people in a competition. Today I will say “NO”.

Acceptance

Acceptance
When all else fails acceptance is the key. When life is getting you down, nothing is going your way and people don’t treat you the way you deserve just accept it and move on.

Today I will accept that my best is not always good enough, I am not that good looking and things aren’t what I expected out of life. Once I accept that, I can be completely happy today.

Aside

Positivity!!

Todays thought :-

In many situations in life look for the good. Even when it’s bad. Occasionally it is actually bad, but just ignore it, (let go and let God) unless you have to. Like a letter from the bank saying you are overdrawn. But that can be good as it will make you realise you are overspending so it’s a warning to cut back and enjoy the free things in life. Electricity is not free however, so just pay the bill.
Take a moment now to focus on something good. Are you beautiful?
No, then focus on something else.
If you can’t think of anything, just remember that something must be good. If not, acceptance is the key – that’s another days meditation!

God help me to see the good in something today. If I can’t, help me to accept the bad and read tomorrow’s meditation and swap it for today’s, hoping that today’s acceptance will become tomorrows good things.

Blog 1

Hello. This is a blog. The first.

We will be starting a journey. A journey of daily reflections to begin your day. You usually reflect at night, but you are free now to explore and reflect forwards or basically think about how your day will pan out. Don’t start this journey on a Monday as they are usually pretty low days if you work. If you don’t have work it’s ok to do Monday, but money may be an issue in which case there is no good day to start. Friday isn’t bad for most people unless you work a long weekend starting Friday. Anyway, start whenever. We are free, we are journeying together. Let the journey begin.
